Help... Kindergarten blues

Welcome to another edition of Tempt My Tummy Tuesday. It has been great having new people join in, every week. We are getting a good grouping of recipes. If you are new to the carnival, let me catch you up. My sister, Lisa, and I co-host this blog carnival. We invite you to share a recipe, kitchen/ cooking tip, great food find, anything foodie. Write about it on your site, make sure you mention TMTT and link back to Mr. Linky on Lisa's site.

Well, I must admit, this has been a tough week. My little girl started Kindergarten. How can that be? It was only 5 short years ago we brought her home? She was so tiny. I'll never forget getting her all strapped into that giant car seat for the first time and my sweet husband just sitting in the hospital parking lot with tears rolling down his cheeks saying, "what do we do now?" I said, "we take her home and become parents."

And that is what we did. So much fun and so many tears, but 5 of the best years of my life to date.

I'll admit to you, I have had a tough time this week. I trust and believe that God is watching over her and will protect her. But man... it is just hard! I want to believe that her adorable "Barbie" like teacher knows best and that she is seeking the best for my child, but she does have a room full to care for. I have found myself praying for her teacher a lot this week. I'm praying that she grows to love my dear daughter so and that she will have a special bond with Kathryn. I know it is a lot to ask, BUT my God says that whatever I ask in His name, He will give it to me if it is in His will.
I am also praying that Kathryn begins to adjust more quickly to this new world called school. She was not too impressed with the first week and all the rules. She does suffer from only- childism, and that is hard to overcome. It is a whole new world dealing with so many kids and adults who don't know you hung the moon.

As you see before we left for school Tuesday morning she was so excited. But a mere hour later she looked at us like we were crazy to be leaving her at school. It tugged at my heart like nothing else has.

It will get better and she will begin to adjust... till then and to the end of time I will continue to pray for my baby.

Now, for Tempt My Tummy Tuesday... I am asking you for some help... do you make your kids lunch or do you send them off with money for the cafeteria? We are packing our lunch for now. In our stylish new Princess lunch box. It is so cute.

What I'm having a hard time with is getting her to eat enough. Lunch is only 30 minutes and this is apparently not enough time for her as each day she is coming home with more food uneaten. So what are some of your idea for lunch box staples that will fill her up and that she can get to and eat quickly. They eat lunch at 10:45 (eee gads... so early) but they are allowed to take a snack to eat on the playground in the early afternoon. BUT she is not eating her snack and comes home famished!

So... ideas please on lunches and snacks.

Thanks!

getting ready for school

Hi all! I'm taking a Tempt My Tummy break this week. My daughter starts Kindergarten on Tuesday and we are having a special family day. Hubby took off from work and so did I so that we could have one last little day of fun before our world completely changes.

Say a prayer for this mama... I'll be hugging my baby good bye and bringing home a school kid.

See ya next week...

1/4 tsp each baking soda and salt
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour

Lemon Drizzle
1 cup powdered sugar
4 to 6 tsp lemon juice
